Tony Bartelme, 45, is a senior reporter with The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina. Bartelme (pronounced Bar-Tell-Me) joined The Post and Courier in 1990 and is responsible for the newspaper’s investigative reports and feature projects. He has received numerous national and regional awards for his work. He is the co-author of “The Bridge Builders,” a book about the construction of a large bridge, and “Into the Wind,” a book about an international sailing race. Before joining The Post and Courier, he worked for the Greenville, (S.C.) News-Piedmont, where he covered cops, courts and business. He was born in Minneapolis, Minn., and was graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in 1984. He is an avid outdoorsman with special interests in mountaineering and skiing. He recently completed his first marathon in Alaska. He lives in Charleston with his 10-year-old son.
