Stephen Labaton

Stephen Labaton covers legal and regulatory issues in the Washington Bureau of The New York Times. Mr. Labaton joined The Times in 1986 as a clerk. He was transferred from New York to Washington in 1990.

Mr. Labaton received a B.A. degree in political science and philosophy from Tufts University in 1983, graduating magna cum laude. He earned an M.A. degree in philosophy from Duke University and a J.D. degree from Duke University School of Law, both in 1986.

He is a member of the bar in New York and Connecticut. He lives in Washington with his wife and two children.
