Ronette King, 35, has been a reporter at The Times-Picayune newspaper since 1989. While working in the newspaper's St. Tammany Parish suburban bureau she covered various beats including education, agriculture, law enforcement and city government. After three years, King moved to the paper's Real Estate section, a weekly tabloid covering residential real estate development in the metropolitan area and tracks housing prices and housing trends. Currently working in the newspaper's Money section, King covers the retail gamut from car dealerships to grocery stores to shopping malls, and does general business reporting. She was recently named a finalist for the inaugural Taylor Family Award for Fairness in Newspapers for participating in a two-year investigation of programs aimed at helping minority and women-owned businesses in New Orleans. King is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans.
