Robert Berner

Robert Berner is a correspondent in BusinessWeek’s Chicago bureau, responsible for coverage of retailing and consumer products.  In 2003, his cover story on Procter & Gamble CEO A.G. Lafley, “The P&G Revolution,” received an award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.

Prior to joining BusinessWeek, Mr. Berner wrote for the Wall Street Journal, covering retailers, drugstores, grocers and food companies. At the Wall Street Journal, in partnership with a colleague, Berner wrote the series of investigative pieces of drugstore chain Rite Aid that helped uncover massive financial fraud at the drugstore chain and led to the ouster and imprisonment of its CEO.

In 1985, he began his journalism career as a reporter for the Bennington (Vt.) Banner, and was later a business reporter for the Patriot Ledger in Quincy, Mass. 

Mr. Berner is a graduate of Oberlin College.
