Pamela Coyle is an assistant city editor, supervising coverage of police, legal and criminal justice issues in New Orleans. She joined The Times Picayune in 1992 after graduating from Yale Law School with a master's degree in the study of law through Yale's fellowship program for mid-career journalists. Prior to becoming an editor in 2000, Ms. Coyle, 41, was a reporter for 15 years. Most recently, she covered federal courts and legal issues and also worked on investigative projects. She was recently named a finalist for the inaugural Taylor Family Award for Fairness in Newspapers for participating in a two-year investigation of programs aimed at helping minority and women-owned businesses in New Orleans. She is a native of Minnesota and formerly worked at the New Haven Register in New Haven, Conn.
