Milt Freudenheim has been a business and health reporter for Business Day since November 1987. He joined The New York Times in February 1979 as a copy editor and writer for the Week In Review section and wrote articles for other sections of the paper on a freelance basis.
Mr. Freudenheim had been with The Chicago Daily News for over 20 years. From 1956 to 1966 he was United Nations correspondent; from 1966 to 1969, foreign and national editor; from 1969 to 1977, Paris and Western European correspondent, and from 1977 to 1978 he was an education reporter. Before joining The Times, Mr. Freudenheim worked for a year as the public affairs officer in Chicago for the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
Born on March 4, 1927 in New Rochelle, N.Y., Mr. Freudenheim is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He has four successful children: Jo, who is Chair of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in the School of Public Health and Health Professions at SUNY Buffalo; Susan, an editor and arts writer in Los Angeles; and Jack and Tom, who are computer programmers in Manhattan.
