Matthew Kauffman, 42, writes about business, with an emphasis on marketing. Before joining The Courant in 1986, he covered local news for the Wausau Daily Herald in Wisconsin and was a reporter and editor at New Jersey Reporter Magazine. He graduated from Vassar College and lives in West Hartford, Conn., with his wife and two sons.
