Mary Jo Brooks joined The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer in 1988 as a producer for the Denver bureau. She produces stories on a wide range of topics, from foreign reports in Mexico, Chile, Israel, Egypt and Panama to education, business and politics. In 1996 she received an Emmy nomination for a story on Netscape versus Microsoft and she won an Emmy for her report from Hebron following the election of Benjamin Netanyahu. Prior to the NewsHour, Ms. Brooks worked as a correspondent for the Independent Network News. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and the mother of two children.
