Luke Timmerman is the biotechnology reporter for The Seattle Times. Timmerman joined the paper in 2000 as a business reporter; before that, he covered local government at The Capital Times in Madison, Wis. His work has won many national awards, including the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award, Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists, and the special projects award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Timmerman was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the 2005-2006 academic year. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
