His investigative work over the past year has included a story on former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's luxurious lifestyle; several articles showing that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist possessed substantial information on his blind trust; the security flaws at the Department of Homeland Security's headquarters complex; the unreported frequent flier credits earned by lawmakers on official trips and used for free personal travel; and Jack Abramoff's payments for congressional travel to the Northern Mariana Islands.
Margasak started with the AP in 1965 in Harrisburg, Pa. He also worked for the AP in Philadelphia and has been in Washington since 1977.
