John W. Schoen

John W. Schoen has reported and written about business and financial news for more than 20 years. He began his career as a newspaper reporter and editor in Connecticut, moving to Dow Jones as radio newscaster and writer for The Wall Street Journal. As a reporter for the CBS Radio Network and public radio's Marketplace, he covered Wall Street's insider trading scandals and the Crash of '87. He joined CNBC several months before it went on the air in 1989 and ran the network's newsdesk during the early 1990s. In 1996, John joined MSNBC.com as a senior producer helping to launch the site. He now writes for the business section, covering topics ranging from energy to personal finance, and appears on MSNBC-TV. He and his wife live in Connecticut with their two teenagers.
