Jerry Perkins

Jerry Perkins has been farm editor of The Register since June 1993. He was an agribusiness writer for the Register from 1982-1988 and covered the suburbs and Polk County courts from 1978-1982. Perkins has been nominated six times for a Pulitzer Prize. In 1984, he and a team of Register reporters won the John Hancock business-writing award for a series of articles on the Farm Crisis. He was sent on assignment to Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras in 1983 and 1986 to report on civil wars there and has used his international experiences in Russia, the Ukraine, Panama, Nicaragua and Asia to cover the World Food Prize.
