J. Lynn Lunsford is a reporter covering the aerospace industry for The Wall Street Journal. He reports to the Los Angeles bureau from Dallas.
Prior to joining the Journal in April 2001, Mr. Lunsford had covered aviation for the Dallas Morning News since October 1992, first as a general assignment reporter and then a senior reporter. He began his journalism career in June 1986 as a reporter in the Northeast bureau of the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram. Beginning in August 1987, he spent five years covering general aviation, defense & aviation and transportation, respectively, for the Star-Telegram.
Mr. Lunsford has received awards and recognition from the American Society of Newspaper Editors, the Columbia Journalism Review, the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors and the Texas Headliners Foundation.
A Texas native, Mr. Lunsford earned a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin. While at the university, he was an intern in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s capital bureau. He is a FAA certified pilot and has aircraft accident investigation credentials from the Transportation Safety Institute.
