Graef 'Bud' Crystal

Bud Crystal, Bloomberg News columnist and editor-at-large, writes exclusively on executive pay. He received an A.B. degree from Berkeley in 1956 and an M.A. from Occidental College in 1962. Both degrees were in Industrial Psychology. After serving in compensation executive positions at General Dynamics Corp. and Pfizer Inc., he became a consultant, spending two years with Booz, Allen & Hamilton and 18 years with Towers Perrin, in the latter case rising to become a vice president and member of the board of directors. In 1986, he joined the faculty of the Berkeley Business School and, shortly thereafter, became a critic of executive pay. He is the author of six books and parts of 11 other books, as well as more than 1,200 articles. He and his wife, Sue, live in Henderson, NV. Between them, they have six children and 11 grandchildren.
