Gady Epstein worked on international projects in 2006 before taking the Knight-Wallace Fellowship at the University of Michigan. In addition to reporting in Thailand for "Crab Factory," he traveled to China for a series about Chinese immigration to the United States. Previously, Epstein was The (Baltiimore) Sun's Beijing correspondent, writing about China and East Asia for the newspaper. In his nine years at the paper, Epstein has also reported on state and city government. Before joining The Sun, he worked for the Tampa Tribune. Epstein grew up in Palo Alto, California, and graduated from Harvard College.
