Dorothy Bourdet started her career as a reporter at The Detroit News just after graduating from CMU in 2003, where she was a Michigan Press Association Foundation scholarship recipient.

In three years, she moved from The News’ weekly publication to the Metro section, covering Detroit suburbs, and then to the Business section, where she covered retail and real estate. 

Prior to joining The News, she worked as a copy editor intern in Beijing at The China Daily.
