Deputy Managing Editor
Hank Gilman is the deputy editor of Fortune, working with managing editor Andy Serwer to oversee editorial content at the magazine. He is also the author of You Can't Fire Everyone: And Other Lessons From an Accidental Manager, which was published by Portfolio/Penguin last March.
Gilman was also the editor of Fortune Small Business magazine, a senior editor at Newsweek, the Sunday business editor of the Boston Globe, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, and covered the suburbs of Hartford for the Journal-Inquirer of Manchester, Conn., and the Lowcountry of South Carolina for the Beaufort Gazette.
Gilman has a B.A. from the University of South Carolina and a master's degree from Indiana University. He lives in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., with his wife, Catherine, and their three children, Kevin, Edward, and Kyle.
