Comes began his BusinessWeek career as Pittsburgh correspondent in 1977 and then managed bureaus in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Toronto and Paris. In 1991 he became senior editor responsible for BusinessWeek’s international coverage and helped launch global editions in Asia, Europe and Latin America. In 1999 he was named assistant managing editor and over the decade supervised nearly every area of BusinessWeek’s coverage including companies, social issues, technology and finance. He has worked with teams that have won numerous domestic and international reporting awards.
Comes graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in economics and has an M.S. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. A native of Albany, N.Y., he lives in Millburn, N.J., with his wife, Carol, and their three sons, Michael, Jay and Andrew.
