2007 Lifetime Acheivement Award Honoree
Matthew Winkler started Bloomberg News in 1990 when he joined an eight-year-old financial information company founded by Michael Bloomberg. As editor-in-chief, Winkler manages more than 2,300 editors and reporters in print and broadcast media in 130 bureaus throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.
During the past decade, Bloomberg News -- which delivers more than 5,000 stories daily to millions of readers, listeners and viewers via radio, television and computerized networks in eight languages -- received more than 250 awards, including: the George Polk, Scripps-Howard National Public Service, Gerald Loeb, Overseas Press Club, Sidney Hillman and Investigative Reporters and Editors.
Winkler, who is co-author of Bloomberg by Bloomberg (John Wiley 1997), was a columnist for Forbes Magazine and a reporter in London and New York for The Wall Street Journal.
