Kevin McCardle joined UCLA Anderson as a Professor in 1999. He was Senior Associate Dean and Director of the MBA program from 2007 till 2010.
Professor McCardle was on the faculty at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University from 1985 till 1999. His prior work experience includes several years as a mathematical analyst at Rand Corporation, Hughes Aircraft, and TRW.
His research interest is in mathematical models of decision making. Specifically, his research studies the role of information and risk attitudes in decisions that are made sequentially or competitively. His resarch has been funded by the NSF and by Chevron. He is currently the Area Editor for Decision Analysis at Operations Research. He has been an associate editor at Operations Research, Management Science, and Decision Analysis.
His primary teaching responsibility has been to make the core course, Data and Decisions, palatable to MBA students. For that effort he has won several teaching awards.
Professor McCardle has served on the board of St. Monica Catholic Schools since 2007. He was elected chair in 2009. Since 2004, he has served on the board of St. Joseph Center, an independent non-profit that provides education, prevention, and intervention services for low income and homeless individuals on the west side of Los Angeles. He was elected chair in 2009. His service with St. Joseph Center was recognized with a UCLA Rosenfeld Distinguished Community Partnership Prize in 2006.
