Biography
Christopher Tang is a UCLA Distinguished Professor and the holder of the Edward W. Carter Chain in Business Administration. He joined UCLA in 1985 and served as Senior Associate Dean and Chairman from 1998 to 2002, Dean of the Business School at the National University of Singapore from 2002 to 2004, and Senior Advisor to the President of National University of Singapore from 2000 to 2002. Currently, he serves as President-Elect of the Production and Operations Management Society (2012-2103) and as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Business School (2012-2015). He has served as a member of the International Advisory Board of the Hong Kong City Univeristy Business School (2009 - 2012), and as an external reviewer of the Columbia-London Business School-Hong Kong University Executive MBA program (2009) as well as the Chinese Univeristy of Hong Kong Executive MBA program (2009-2012).
Research
His research spans across different areas including: global supply chain management, retail operations, and social business operations. He has co-edited 4 books, co-written 1 book, and published over 100 academic articles in research journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Marketing Research, Sloan Management Review, California Management Review, Interfaces and European Journal of Operational Research. In addition, he has published management articles in Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and The Guardian. He served on editorial boards for over 15 international journals and research boards for startup companies.

He has advised companies such as Abbott Laboratories, Accenture, Amgen, Andersen Consulting, Bay Networks, Emerson Electric (Hong Kong), Federal Reserve Bank, GKN (United Kingdom), Hewlett Packard Company (world-wide locations), Honda America, Hughes Aircraft Company, Nestlé USA, IBM (world-wide locations), ICL International, Intertek Testing Services (England), Information Technology Institute (Singapore), Johnson and Johnson, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Kurokabe (Japan), Northrop-Grumman, and Orient Overseas Container Limited (Hong Kong). Currently, he serves as a board member of Asia Pacific Health Ventures (California).
Teaching
In addition to establishing the UCLA-NUS EMBA program in 2003, Professor Tang has taught a variety of Supply Chain Management and Retail Operations related courses in the MBA / Fully Employed MBA / Executive MBA / PhD programs at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, National University of Singapore, Stanford University, UCLA and elsewhere. Also, he has taught various executive programs in Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Spain.
