International Orientations

International Pre-Orientation (IPO) -- optional

The International Pre-Orientation is an optional 3-week program designed for entering international students who are not native speakers of English. The goal of the program is to prepare students linguistically and culturally for all aspects of the UCLA Anderson MBA program.

IPO will be held at UCLA Anderson from Monday, August 5 through Thursday, August 22. The cost is $1,500 plus $404 for summer registration. IPO registrants will get a visa form I-20 allowing entry into the USA in July. Please note that registrations that are cancelled after June cannot be refunded, and cancellations will also receive a standard student visa allowing U.S. entry after mid-August.

To view the schedule and register online, visit the IPO Website.

International Student Orientation Day (ISOD) -- mandatory

All international students on a student visa are required to attend the International Student Orientation Day (ISOD) prior to Orientation and the Leadership Foundations course. ISOD provides a review of valuable information specific to international students at UCLA Anderson. Students will have an opportunity to engage with faculty, administrators, and second-year students providing a special welcome to UCLA Anderson.

Mandatory ISOD will be held on Friday, September 6, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

New International Student & Scholar Orientation (NISSO) -- mandatory for visa holders

All UCLA Anderson students on a student visa (F-1 or J-1) are required to complete the NISSO visa workshop. Details about the online workshop will be coming soon.

English as a Second Language Placement Examination (ESLPE) -- mandatory

Non-native speakers of English may be required to take the UCLA English as a Second Language Placement Examination (ESLPE), regardless of their score on TOEFL or IELTS tests. The ESLPE is a written diagnostic examination. Depending on the results of the ESLPE, you may be requried to complete ESL courses in your first year of study.

Please note we will hold a special exam session that does NOT conflict with the MBA Orientation schedule at Anderson. The exam date and time will be announced in the summer.

Incoming MBA students should only register for the exam after receiving instructions to do so.  Please wait to hear from UCLA Anderson before registering. While the vast majority of international students will be required to take the exam, exempt students are notified via email before the date of the examination.
