Orientation

UCLA Anderson’s orientation is designed to prepare you for a successful MBA experience.  Programming includes sessions on academic and career management preparation, leadership development, and social activities.

Orientation takes place over the course of 12 weekdays from September 9 – 25, and includes a five-day Leadership Foundations course and seven days of orientation activities.  All programming throughout the twelve days is mandatory, unless otherwise noted.  There are many optional activities that take place on the weekends.

The Leadership Foundations course is designed to enhance student knowledge of and competency in leadership.  With both conceptual and skill development objectives, its framework is grounded in principles of individual, group, and organizational behavior.  Leadership Foundations sets the standard for case discussion and analysis that will continue throughout the MBA program.

Please keep in mind that your Orientation schedule will be quite demanding.  Activities begin at 8:00am and occasionally continue into the evening.  You will have very little free time.  Tasks such as finding an apartment, shopping for furniture, or buying a car will not be possible once orientation begins.  We strongly recommend that you take care of getting settled in Los Angeles by Monday, August 27.  International students participating in the optional International Pre-Orientation (IPO) program should take care of all personal matters by Friday, August 3.

Over the summer, you will receive a detailed schedule of orientation activities and the Leadership Foundations course, both of which are prerequisites for enrollment in fall quarter.  In the meantime, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.  We look forward to welcoming you to UCLA!
