Career Advising
Students meet with advisors for personalized support with:

  • Resumé and cover letter review
  • Mock interviews
  • Job offer evaluation and negotiations
  • Targeting outreach and informational interviews
  • Using the alumni network

Parker CMC Career Series
This fall quarter is led by our professional career advisors and taps the wisdom of your 70 section classmates. Programming is a mix of:

  • Lecture
  • Practicum
  • Small group breakouts
  • Individual advising

Anderson Career Teams (ACT)
First-year students, grouped by industry and functional interest, meet weekly in their ACT groups to review resumés, discuss industry trends, polish their networking and interviewing skills, meet with guest speakers, share contacts, and motivate each other throughout the summer internship search process. Groups are led by Second-Year ACT Coaches, who have successfully navigated the career search process. These 80 coaches are selected and trained by the Parker CMC and hone their management skills through this leadership role.

Career Workshops & Panels
The Parker CMC, corporate recruiters, and professional clubs conduct workshops and panels on a wide range of topics including:

  • Case and technical interviewing
  • Beyond campus recruiting
  • Career conference preparation
  • Career path options

Days on the Job
Professional clubs organize onsite visits called Days on the Job (DOJs) in:

  • Southern California
  • New York City
  • Silicon Valley
  • Seattle
  • Miami
  • Hong Kong
  • London
  • Shanghai

Examples of companies visited: Google, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, LinkedIn, Morgan Stanley, Salesforce, Disney, Citigroup, Toyota, Mattel, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Twitter, Warner Brothers, E. & J. Gallo, TMobile, Shea Properties, Clorox, Lowes, Pandora, Visa, Taco Bell, and Zynga.

Academic Internships
Internship opportunities are not ljust limited to the summer; between your first and second year at UCLA Anderson. We encourage you to further explore your intended industries and functions during the academic year, and there are a plethora of options thanks to our LA locale. Academic internships allow you to readily expand your network, add bullet points to your resumé, and potentially transition into a company.

Rosenfeld Library
With over 100 databases, nearly 2,800 journals, periodicals and newspapers, and 157,000 volumes on business and management, the Rosenfeld Library will provide you with access to all of the most current data to succeed in class and with your career.
 

Parker Portal
The Parker CMC's internal website houses job search tools for students including:

  • UCLA Anderson-exclusive job postings
  • Customized career guides
  • Free access to paid subscription services such as Vault and WetFeet

Alumni
Alumni are accessible directly through the alumni database and are enthusiastic about sharing their time, energy and resources. Many mentor individual students and many return to campus as guest speakers and as insider advocates during corporate recruiting events.

Spring Career Fair
At the third MBA Career Fair in spring 2011, over 40 small to mid-size companies from industries including consulting, financial services, government, healthcare, and technology were represented.

International Career-Related Educational Workshops (iCrew)
Supported by the Parker CMC, two second-year students lead this interactive group of first-year international students. Meetings address both the domestic and international job search and cover topics such as:

  • Overview of the US job search
  • Work authorization
  • Targeting companies that hire international students

Reciprocal Agreements
UCLA Anderson has reciprocal agreements with more than 30 other top business schools in locations including Boston, Chicago, New York City, Northern California, Philadelphia, and even international locations. When visiting these participating schools, students can utilize their career resource centers.
