Event Overview

UCLA Anderson presents Embracing Diversity, a professional conference where prospective MBAs from across the country will converge to meet current Anderson MBAs and alumni who are or were members of our Black Business Students Association, Latino Management Student Association and Out@Anderson student clubs. Our annual diversity event focuses on providing you with the opportunity to learn what makes our full-time and Fully Employed MBA programs top choices for students. You’ll walk away with a clearer picture of what your MBA future can look like.

This year, Embracing Diversity will involve key UCLA Anderson corporate partners like Amazon, Danaher, Google and Microsoft. The conference is co-hosted by the Anderson Student Association (ASA), full-time MBA and FEMBA admissions offices and UCLA Anderson’s Office of Diversity Initiatives and Community Relations.

We invite you to explore UCLA Anderson’s online portal to stories of inclusion and equity.

Who Should Attend

If you are a prospective full-time or FEMBA applicant who is preparing to apply within the next two years and would like to learn more about UCLA Anderson and connect with students in the clubs hosting the conference, then apply to be considered for Embracing Diversity. Space is limited, so please submit the short application as soon as possible. Visit the “Application” tab for more details.

Welcome from the Assistant Dean, MBA Admissions and Financial Aid, Alex Lawrence

We welcome you to join us for our upcoming Embracing Diversity event at UCLA Anderson, November 17–19, 2016. This event will provide you with the opportunity to experience UCLA Anderson up front and learn what makes our MBA programs a top choice for students from around the world.

You will gain an insider’s perspective on UCLA Anderson as you attend student panels, meet some of our corporate partners, visit with alumni and current students, learn about career opportunities post-graduation, and experience what an MBA class at Anderson is really like. You’ll discover a learning environment informed by academic, professional, geographic and cultural student diversity — a balanced community built upon respect.

At the end of the event, you will:

  • Discover the intellectual capital that drives our school and prepares our students for a lifetime of career progression across industries and functions
  • Meet with some of the companies you might aspire to work for after earning an MBA at UCLA Anderson
  • Get to know what the Anderson community is all about: diverse from all angles, where all opinions are respected and where everyone works in collaboration
  • Understand how the “learning laboratory” of Los Angeles prepares individuals for opportunities that extend from Los Angeles to Wall Street to Latin American to the Pacific Rim

Please contact my colleague Mia Seleshi, Associate Director of Student Affairs, with any questions you have about the event.

Welcome from Colleen Thomas (’17), Consortium Fellow, and Anderson Student Association VP of Diversity and Inclusion

I made the decision to come to UCLA Anderson because it is a recognized leader in the global business environment and an ideal place for students who want to develop a strong foundation while retaining the freedom to customize their MBA experience. Our flexible and interdisciplinary program empowered me to make a career switch from the retail industry to consulting with my summer internship at Accenture.

The best part of UCLA Anderson, however, is the students. The combination of personality, intellect and collaborative nature creates a great sense of community. The degree of student involvement in campus activities is unparalleled. We all work together and help each other academically, professionally and personally.

UCLA Anderson’s student government has partnered with our Black Business Student Association, Latino Management Student Association and Out@Anderson student clubs to offer you a glimpse of the UCLA Anderson experience. The event will provide you with the chance to interact with students, faculty, staff and alumni representing a broad spectrum of career paths and interests. In addition, you will learn first hand what it means to be a part of the UCLA Anderson community.

We invite you to explore UCLA Anderson’s online portal to stories of inclusion and equity.

We look forward to the chance to meet you in November! Please feel free to contact us directly.

Sincerely,
Colleen Thomas, Anderson Student Association, VP of Diversity and Inclusion
