UCLA Anderson Embracing Diversity

November 16 – 18, 2017

UCLA Anderson School of Management

Presented by

Black Business Students Association (BBSA) Latino Management Student Association (LMSA)
Out@Anderson (O@A)

Event Overview

UCLA Anderson presents Embracing Diversity, a professional conference for prospective students to learn about what diversity means at Anderson. This annual event provides the opportunity to learn what makes our full-time MBA and fully employed MBA (FEMBA) programs top choices for students. All participants will connect with current Anderson MBAs and alumni from the Anderson Latino Management Association, Black Business Students Association and Out@Anderson, and walk away with a clearer picture of what an MBA at UCLA Anderson can look like.

Last year, Embracing Diversity involved key UCLA Anderson corporate partners including Amazon, Google, Microsoft and PwC. The conference is co-hosted by our student government organization, the Anderson Student Association (ASA), the full-time MBA and FEMBA admissions offices and UCLA Anderson’s Office of Diversity Initiatives and Community Relations.

We invite you to explore UCLA Anderson’s online portal stories of inclusion and equity.

Who Should Attend

If you are a prospective full-time MBA or FEMBA applicant who is preparing to apply within the next two years and would like to learn more and connect with students in the clubs hosting the conference, please apply to be considered for the Embracing Diversity conference.

Welcome from the Assistant Dean, MBA Admissions and Financial Aid, Alex Lawrence (’99)

We welcome you to join us for our upcoming Embracing Diversity event at UCLA Anderson, November 16–18, 2017. This event will provide you with the opportunity to experience UCLA Anderson up front and learn what makes our MBA programs a top choice for students from around the world.

You will gain an insider’s perspective on UCLA Anderson as you attend student panels, meet some of our corporate partners, visit with alumni and current students, learn about career opportunities post-graduation, and experience what an MBA class at Anderson is really like. You’ll discover a learning environment informed by academic, professional, geographic and cultural student diversity — a balanced community built upon respect.

At the end of the event, you will:

  • Discover the intellectual capital that drives our school and prepares our students for a lifetime of career progression across industries and functions
  • Meet with some of the companies you might aspire to work for after earning an MBA at UCLA Anderson
  • Get to know what the Anderson community is all about: diverse from all angles, where all opinions are respected and where everyone works in collaboration
  • Understand how the “learning laboratory” of Los Angeles prepares individuals for opportunities that extend from Los Angeles to Wall Street to Latin American to the Pacific Rim

If you have questions, please contact:

  • Mia Seleshi, Associate Director of Student Affairs, with any questions you have about the event.
  • Vickie Euyoque, Associate Director of MBA Admissions, with any questions you have about the MBA Program or application process.

Welcome from Tazia Middleton (’18), Consortium Fellow, BBSA Co-President, and Anderson Student Association VP of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community

I chose to pursue my MBA at UCLA Anderson because, in addition to offering a leading global business curriculum, it also boasts one of the top career development centers amongst premier business schools. Our flexible and interdisciplinary program empowered me to transition my career from private wealth management to consulting with my summer internship at The Boston Consulting Group.

What really sets UCLA Anderson apart, however, are the students. Far more than simply community, we foster a sense of family, where students go out of their way to help one another succeed professionally, academically and personally. Furthermore, UCLA Anderson is a truly student-run institution, where we have the opportunity to get involved at every level.

UCLA Anderson’s student government has partnered with our Black Business Students Association, Anderson Latino Management Association and Out@Anderson student clubs to provide you with the opportunity to experience UCLA Anderson firsthand. At the Embracing Diversity Conference, you will get to know students, alumni, faculty and staff with a wide range of backgrounds, career paths and interests. Additionally, you will gain personal insight into what it means to be a member of the UCLA Anderson community.

We invite you to visit UCLA Anderson’s online portal for stories of inclusion and equity. We look forward to meeting you in November! Please feel free to contact us directly.

Sincerely,
Tazia Middleton, Anderson Student Association, VP of Diversity, Inclusion and Community
