Curriculum

In addition to core course work, Anderson’s EMBA requires 12 units of elective courses, a popular aspect of the curriculum. EMBA electives are offered on Sunday's following class weekends and during the summer. EMBA students can also enroll in relevant classes in other Anderson programs and other UCLA departments and schools — for instance, in Public Policy or TV and Film. All Anderson EMBA students complete an International Residential, a rare opportunity for immersion in business practices abroad.

EMBA Electives

EMBA Electives are offered in two distinct formats to fit the busy schedules of working professionals:

Hybrid Electives
Half on campus, half online. Hybrid courses blend on-campus immersion with online lectures, interactive group work and web-assisted study tools. Hybrid electives are offered on Sundays following class weekends and during the summer.

August Elective Block
The Elective Block is a unique component of the Anderson EMBA Program. It consists of five to six 2-unit elective courses offered over five consecutive days in August. Students take no more than two courses in an elective block week.

Past Elective Options include:

  • »
    Advanced Financial Policy for Managers
  • »
    Business Plan Development
  • »
    Deals: Strategy & Structure
  • »
    Digital Marketing
  • »

EMBA students also have the opportunity to enroll in FEMBA or full-time MBA electives on a space-available basis.

International Residential Requirement

The international residential requirement is a distinguishing aspect of the curriculum. All Anderson EMBA students complete at least one international residential of their choosing. Students can complete the international requirement by choosing one of the following.

A Global Immersion Course:
A global immersive experience including on-campus lectures and an intensive one-week abroad with UCLA professors and other students. Global Immersions typically take place in late March, early September and mid-December.

An International Exchange Course:
