Sports Business Association (SBA)

The goal of the Sports Business Association is to provide resources for our members to learn about the sports industry and find employment opportunities. In addition, the SBA acts as an academic and research source for sports organizations and raises awareness of the value MBAs can deliver to the industry.

Club Events

Portland and San Francisco Days on the Job

The SBA travels to Portland and San Francisco during DOJ week in the fall to visit amazing companies that include Nike, adidas, Columbia Sportswear, Bleacher Report, Twitter Sports and more.

SBA Career Night

During the winter, SBA hosts an annual career night that gives students the opportunity to network with representatives from all areas of the sports industry. Companies that have attended in the past include L.A. Clippers, NFL Network, Wasserman Media Group, Los Angeles Dodgers, Ticketmaster, IMG, LA Galaxy and many more.

Game Day Case Competition

Every year, the SBA and Anderson partner with the Villanova University School of Law to host the Game Day Case Competition. Students from schools across the country form teams of business and law students to tackle a current business law topic in the sports industry, competing for prize money. In 2017–18 Anderson will be going for its third consecutive first-place title!

PULSE Conference

SBA, along with the Entertainment Management Association and Center for MEMES (Management of Enterprise in Media, Entertainment & Sports), host the Pulse Conference annually at Anderson. Pulse includes prominent speakers from the sports and entertainment industries discussing current industry trends and topics.

San Diego Day on the Job

During spring quarter, the SBA hosts a DOJ in the San Diego area to visit such companies as TaylorMade Golf, the San Diego Padres and more.

Speaker Series

Throughout the year, SBA brings prominent sports executives into the Anderson community to speak with students about their careers and experiences. This gives Anderson students the opportunity to broaden their networks and learn from successful individuals in the industry.
