Retail Business Association (RBA)

The Retail Business Association helps UCLA Anderson students develop knowledge of the retail industry and the various functions within the industry. The club supports students’ desire to enter the retail sector — from luxury to apparel to restaurants — or to launch their businesses in one of these areas.

Days-On‐the‐Job

These LA company visits provide students with the opportunity to obtain first‐hand knowledge of an organization’s inner workings and to gain a deeper understanding of the core operations. This year, the RBA visited the Honest Company, Skechers, Aella, and Vivienne Westwood.

Retail 101 Speaker Series

An ongoing series led by industry veterans to teach students about different aspects of the retail industry. Sessions often focus on industry trends, including e-commerce, omni-channel, and the future of retail.

Career Night

The RBA career night is the key recruiting event for those students looking to pursue a career in retail. Representatives from leading retail companies interact with Anderson students interested in various job functions including marketing, merchandising, buying, strategy, corporate finance, and supply chain

AnderGlam

AnderGlam is UCLA Anderson’s Annual Student Fashion Show & Cocktail Party. One of the premier social events of the year, Anderglam showcases fashion from various LA retailers to raise funds for Challenge for Charity.

New York Trek

During the trek, students visit a handful of retail companies located in New York. Each visit typically includes a company presentation, an office/store tour and a meet-and-greet with employees. Past participants have included Tiffany’s, Gilt Groupe, Derek Lam, Baublebar, Theory/Helmut Lang, and Macy’s.

San Francisco Trek

During the trek, students visit a handful of retail companies located in the Bay Area. Each visit typically includes a company presentation, an office/store tour and a meet-and-greet with employees. Past participants have included Gap/Old Navy, Stitch Fix, Pottery Barn/William Sonoma, Sephora, Betabrand, and The RealReal.

Dinner‐for‐Eight (D48)

The D48 program provides students with an exciting opportunity to meet with featured guests in a smaller group setting that fosters interactive discussion. Last year, RBA members had an intimate dinner with the General Counsel of Dutch LLC (Joie, Current/Elliott, Equipment).
