The external representative works with career services and the alumni network to ensure that their section is aware of the resources and events offered by ProMBA Career Services and the Office of Alumni Services. The external representative attends ProMBA Career Services Committee meetings and FEMBA Alumni Relations and Development Committee meetings, represents the FEMBA student body at alumni events and participates in the annual Anderson Affiliates campaign. The external representative should send out at least one section email per month with information on upcoming career services events and deadlines.Internal Representative
The internal representative handles most of their section’s academic and logistical issues, which may include resolving section scheduling conflicts, communicating student concerns to faculty and administration and keeping the section informed of new developments on campus. The social representative plans social and networking events, including after-class happy hours, section lunches/dinners, cultural outings, athletic events and other activities that his or her section is interested in. The social representative should make every effort to ensure that these events appeal to all of their FEMBA peers and is highly encouraged to collaborate with social representatives from other sections and years. The social representative is required to learn and follow the expense reimbursement policy in order to plan the use of their section’s annual social budget. The social representative should send out regular emails with information on upcoming activities.
Scott Huthmacher is the External Representative for Section 1, Class of 2014. He completed a B.A. in English from the University of California, Irvine, and an M.A. in Print Journalism from the University of Southern California. Since then, he has held a number of marketing strategy roles at industrial supply distributors and currently works at McMaster-Carr Supply Co as a Senior Marketing Analyst. Scott is also an active member of the Management Consulting Association and the Automotive Business Association at Anderson.
Jason Mulherin is the Internal Representative for Section 1, Class of 2014. Jason has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State. Since graduating from Penn State, Jason has held engineering roles with the U.S. Navy, Lockheed Martin, General Electric and Titleist Golf. Jason recently did a summer internship as a Venture Capital Associate at SJ Investment Company. Jason is also a member of the Management Consulting Association at Anderson.
Dmitriy was born in Moscow, Russia where he finished high school and two years of college before moving to a much sunnier Los Angeles. After graduating with a degree in Computer Science in 2003, Dmitriy worked in several technology roles leading software development teams. After joining his current company, Deluxe Entertainment Services, he transitioned into a marketing and product management role. Currently, Dmitriy is managing a major product end-to-end, from customer acquisition to management of technical implementation. Dmitriy is a member of the Management Consulting Association and High Tech Business Association at Anderson. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Liya and his very energetic two year-old son Benjamin.
Jeff Shepard has worked in the commercial real estate industry for over 6 years, primarily as a senior financial analyst. In this time, Jeff has consulted for many Fortune 100 companies; providing them with strategies as it pertains to their global real estate portfolio. Beginning in September, Jeff will be joining IBM in their Global Business Services consulting practice. Since joining Anderson, Jeff has been actively involved; he is currently one of the VPs of FEMBA Relations for the Management Consulting Association, a leader for the consulting FACT team, and has consulted on two different projects for the Anderson Strategy Group. He looks forward to transitioning into the consulting industry and will work hard to make sure that all of Section 2 will put their best foot forward during the upcoming recruiting season.
Sagar Thaker is the Social Representative for Section Two Class of 2014. A Southern California native he attained his Bachelors in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and a Masters in Molecular Biology from UC Riverside. Since that time, he has been working for St Jude Medical in a field sales capacity focused on cardiac devices in both Michigan and Southern California, providing sales, technical and clinical expertise. He looks to continue his focus on healthcare and medical technologies. He has been involved with MCA, EA and HBA and actively participated in a number of UCLA Anderson competitions including Net Impact and the Anderson Commercial Challenge.
Shilpy is the Social chair for 2014's Section 3 class. She grew up in Canada and completed her undergraduate degree in Neural Computation at McMaster University. She then moved to the US and completed her MS in Biomedical Engineering at UCLA. Since then, Shilpy has worked as a technology consultant for Cerner Corporation, a healthcare IT Company, and a Systems Engineer for Boston Scientific, a medical device company. She left her position at Boston Scientific earlier this year to pursue an internship opportunity in Product Management at St. Jude Medical.
Shilpy is also a FEMBAassador, and is an active member of the Women's Business Connection, Management Consultant Association, and Healthcare Business Association. For the past two years, Shilpy also acted as a FEMBA VP for the Challenge for Charity.
Megan Slaughter is Director of Acquisitions for ABC Family, a Disney owned cable television network. She licenses the rights to air movies and television series on the network and has been with the company for 10 years. She received her B.A. in Communications from the University of California, San Diego.
Megan serves as External Representative for the FEMBA Student Council. In addition, she is a member of the Entertainment Management Association (EMA) and the Women's Business Connection (WBC). Last year, she served as a mentor for the Riordan Scholars Program where she received the Mentor of the Year Award.
Chen Zhao graduated from Beihang University with a B.S. degree in Computer Science from China in 2006 and earned his M.S. degree in the same field from University of Southern California in 2008. He worked at Investment Technology Group Inc. (ITG) as a senior software engineer 2008-2013 and had worked on various online financial applications related to transaction cost analysis (TCA) in equity and foreign exchange trading. He is currently the managing partner at Sias Amidi US-China Startups Incubation Center, which is a China-based international investment institution jointly founded by Sias International University and Amidi Group, specialized in both growing local tech startups as well as helping cutting edge global companies enter into and expand their businesses in the Chinese market. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, snowboarding, surfing, traveling and watching Friends over and over again.s Program where she received the Mentor of the Year Award.
