Gadi Kaufmann has been a guiding force behind RCLCO’s expansion into an end-to-end solutions provider to the real estate industry, and a leader in advancing performance strategies for real estate companies, portfolios and projects around the world. In addition to serving as the CEO of RCLCO (Robert Charles Lesser & Co., LLC), Gadi is involved with some of the firm’s most high-profile projects.
His experience encompasses assignments for privately held and publicly traded companies, and for public sector and government entities. Since joining RCLCO in 1979, Gadi has managed thousands of engagements throughout the United States and around the world. Some of the real estate industry most prominent companies call on Gadi for consulting help, including AvalonBay Communities, Crescent Real Estate Equities, DMB Associates, East West Partners, The Estate of James Campbell, General Growth Properties, HEI Hospitality, Marriott International, MGM Mirage, Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund, Newland Communities, Port Blakely, Tejon Ranch Company, Toll Brothers, Trammell Crow Residential, Vail Resorts, the Urban Land Institute, Walt Disney Company, and many others.
Gadi specializes in economic consulting for real estate projects and portfolios; in corporate strategy planning and management consulting at enterprise level; in transactional and negotiation services; and in financing and capital formation strategy formulation and implementation.
Gadi is the Chairman of the RCLCO Foundation, a foundation formed in 2006 as a means to positively influence the availability and development of affordable housing.
Gadi is a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), an international organization whose mission is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land, and is a Governor of the ULI Foundation. He joined ULI in 1982, and has been serving in ULI leadership positions since 1990, including chairing three different councils between 1990 and 2003, serving on the ULI’s Executive Committee (2003-2007), and chairing the Program Committee (2003-2005) and the Product Councils Chairmen’s Committee (2005-2007).
Gadi became a Founding Member of the Board of The Richard S. Ziman Center for Real Estate at UCLA, his Alma Mater, in 2006. The Ziman Center, a joint center of the Anderson School of Management and the School of Law, creates and administers UCLA’s activities surrounding the topic of real estate.
Gadi has been an active member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), an international business organization for education and idea exchange and currently. Since joining YPO in 1988, he has been serving in various leadership positions in YPO chapters in Southern California and in the Washington DC regions since 1997, including Chapter Chair of the Washington DC chapter. He currently serves as the Membership Chair for the Washington DC Chapter. He has served on YPO’s International Board of Directors between 2004 and 2006, and on its Northeastern US Regional Board between 2003 and 2007.
Gadi serves as the Membership Vice Chairman on the International Board of Chief Executives Organization (CEO), an organization consisting of global leaders who have distinguished themselves from within the ranks of the Young Presidents’ Organization. Gadi joined CEO in 2006.
Gadi is married to Karen Kaufmann, a professor of Political Science at the University of Maryland, and has two daughters, Katie and Amy. The Kaufmanns live in Potomac, Maryland.
