Art Brown

Art Brown is an Assurance Partner in Marcum's National Alternative Investment Group. He provides audit and advisory services for private equity funds, venture capital funds and hedge funds, including fund of funds, offshore funds and real estate funds.
Mr. Brown has more than 19 years of public accounting and private industry experience in the alternative investment industry, working with investment advisors ranging from single-fund start-up entities to multi- billion dollar international firms. His private experience includes serving as chief financial officer for an SEC- registered hedge fund-of-fund group and as chief financial officer and chief compliance officer for a start-up SEC-registered investment advisor. His public accounting experience includes eight years with a “Big 4” asset management audit group and more than five years with the largest boutique firm serving hedge fund investment advisors. Most recently, he served as lead assurance partner in the western region for the financial services group of a global accounting firm.
Based in the Los Angeles office, Mr. Brown leads Marcum's California Alternative Investment Group practice.

Timothy Spangler is a Partner in the Financial Services Group and the global specialist law firm, Dechert LLP. He focuses his practice on the formation, structuring and negotiation of investment vehicles across numerous jurisdictions both domestic and international. Mr. Spangler counsels advisers, investors, managers and promoters on a wide range of matters relating to the development and launch of new funds of funds, hedge funds, private equity funds and venture capital funds. He regularly advises fund sponsors and promoters with respect to their co-investment arrangements, internal partnerships and personal investments, and, on a selective basis, he advises potential investors in private investment funds.
