Fink Center is committed to supporting research and the practice of finance in the Anderson community.

In order to fulfill this commitment, we select three types of fellows each year: MBA Fellows, Ph.D. Fellows and Faculty Fellows. We provide our fellows with financial support as well as valuable mentorship resources.

Current Fellows

Nick Babikian
Investment Banking

Nick Babikian is pursuing an MBA with an emphasis in finance at UCLA Anderson. Prior to Anderson, Nick was as a Project Manager at Kinetic Systems Inc., an international construction company. Before being promoted to Project Manager, he worked as an engineer based in Frankfurt, Germany and was a consultant to design teams on projects throughout Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Nick graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. At USC, Nick rowed for the men's crew team and placed second in the Grand Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta. At UCLA Anderson, Nick is a member of the Investment Finance Association and the Public Speaking Club. Nick will be doing his summer internship with Goldman Sachs in their Energy Group in Houston.

Ian Martin
Investment Banking

Ian Martin is pursuing an MBA with an emphasis in finance at UCLA Anderson. Prior to arriving at Anderson, Ian was a Senior Cash Desk Associate in PIMCO's Portfolio Management Group in Newport Beach. At PIMCO, Ian managed the cash investment and liquidity monitoring process in all of PIMCO's publicly traded mutual funds and separately managed client accounts. Prior to PIMCO, Ian was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as an Infantry and Intelligence officer.

His service includes a combat deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2010 as a Weapons Platoon Commander. Ian graduated from Bucknell University in 2007 with a B.S. in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. At UCLA Anderson, Ian is a First Year Director in the Investment Finance Association, and is a member of the Anderson Veterans Association. Ian will be doing his summer internship with Lazard in their M&A group in New York.

Blake Nixon
Investment Banking

Blake Nixon is pursuing his MBA in Finance at UCLA Anderson. Prior to Anderson, Blake spent five years in Beijing, China, most recently as a Manager in KPMG China's Transaction and Restructuring group, where he led teams focused on M&A advisory including strategy, due diligence and corporate finance. His global deal experience ranges from advising middle-market firms to some of the largest cross-border transactions involving China, including representing clients on both the buy-side and sell-side.

At UCLA Anderson, Blake is a member of the Investment Finance Association, Greater China Business Club and the Anderson Golf Club. Blake holds an Economics degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He currently lives with his wife in Los Angeles, CA. Blake will be doing his summer internship with Barclays in their Financial Sponsors Group in Los Angeles.

Doug Taylor
Investment Banking

Doug Taylor is pursuing his MBA in Finance at UCLA Anderson. Prior to Anderson, Doug spent seven years at Thomson Reuters in the Capital Markets Consulting Group in New York City. At Thomson Reuters, Doug was a consultant to equity and debt capital markets investment bankers, helping them market their transactions to institutional investors.

At Anderson, Doug is a First Year Director of Investment Banking for the Investment Finance Association and a member of the UCLA Anderson Outdoor Adventure Club. He graduated from the University of Virginia, where he majored in Economics. Doug will be doing his summer internship with Citi in their Industrials group in New York.

Sandip Garg
Kayne Investment Management

While beginning his MBA at Anderson, Sandip has been working par t-time at a newly-formed investment partnership based in Miami, FL, reviewing opportunities in small and mid-cap banks within the fund's value, tactical and special situations books. Immediatel y prior to Anderson, Sandip was a senior analyst at The Endicott Group in New York City, an asset management firm specializing in equity investments in financial institutions, primarily U.S. community banks.

He was responsible for various stages of investment research and diligence across Endicott's Opportunit y Funds between 2011 and 2014. Prior to Endicott, Sandip was an investment banking analyst in the Fina ncial Institutions Group at Lazard Frères & Co., also based in New York City, from 2009-2011. Sandip beg an his career on Wall Street in fall 2008 as a high yield credit research analyst at Merrill Lyn ch, covering the consumer and utility sectors. He is a magna cum laude graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, holding a Bachelor of Science in Economics with concentration in Finance.

Alex Bibi
Kayne Investment Management

Alexandre Bibi is pursuing his MBA with a concentration in Finance - Investment Management at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Prior to business school, Alexandre worked at Thomson Reuters Financial & Risk in New York City. He began his career supporting sovereign bond and interest rate derivative analytics for clients of Thomson Reuters' fixed income trading platform. Alexandre led the effort to consolidate several liquidity venues and analytics platforms into a single trading application for U.S. agency mortgage-backed securities, resulting in his promotion to product manager.

In this capacity he was responsible for the strategic direction of the mortgage-backed securities trading platform, reaching over 900 mortgage banks across the U.S. He also managed the development effort for new trade-decision support and risk management tools. At UCLA Anderson, Alexandre is a first-year director of the Anderson Investment Association. He has passed all three levels of the CFA program and hopes to pursue a role in credit research/fixed income portfolio management after business school. Alexandre graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 2010 with a B.A. in Economics. Alex will be serving as a Summer Portfolio Analyst at Western Asset Management in the Investment Management Group. He will be assisting with selecting and maintaining yield curve exposure, generating trading strategies and creating client reports of portfolio performance.

Brian Shen
Kayne Investment Management

Brian Shen is pursuing his MBA with a concentration in Finance - Investment Management at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is a director of the Anderson Investment Association. Before business school, Brian spent four years as an equity research associate at Brandes Investment Partners on the financial institutions team.

Brian graduated from UC Berkeley in 2010 with degrees in Business Administration and Economics, and was awarded the CFA designation in 2014. Brian will be doing his summer internship at Empyrean Capital Partners, an event-driven hedge fund in Los Angeles.
