David Hou
David Hou is a Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at First Republic Investment Management (FRIM). He graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Economics/Business in 1988. After graduation, David joined the Financial Restructuring Group at Houlihan Lokey, Inc. as a Financial Analyst. David graduated from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in June 1992.

David has served as a financial adviser to wealthy families and institutional investors since 1992 when he joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. In early 2008, David co-founded Luminous Capital, an independent, SEC Registered Investment Advisory firm, which was acquired by First Republic Bank in December 2012. He serves as an Investment Committee member for Altair Investments, the alternative investments division of FRIM.

David has been perennially named as one of “Americas Top 100 Advisors” by Barron’s Magazine since the list was originated in 2004. He has also been highly ranked by Forbes Magazine, Worth Magazine, Research Magazine and Reuters AdvicePoint in past years.

David is an Advisory Board member of the UCLA Anderson School of Management Fink Center for Finance. He also serves as a Trustee for the Carlthorp School in Santa Monica and is an Investment Team member for the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica. David is also an Advisory Board Member of SCS Noonan Scholars, a charitable foundation that provides funding and support for inner city college-bound youth.

David resides in Pacific Palisades with his wife, Evelyn, and their four children.
