Portfolio Manager, First Republic Investment Management
David Hou is a Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at First Republic Investment Management.
Mr. Hou has served as a financial adviser to wealthy families and institutional investors for the past 22 years. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1992 in the Private Client Group. After five years at Goldman Sachs, David and his entire team joined Merrill Lynch in 1997. At Merrill Lynch, David helped to build the Private Banking and Investment Group. In May 2008, David co-founded Luminous Capital, an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm. Luminous Capital had $5.9 billion of assets under management when it was acquired by First Republic Bank in December 2012.
Mr. Hou was named as one of “America's Top 100 Advisers” by Barron's Magazine in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, and 2004. He has also been highly ranked by Worth Magazine, Research Magazine, and Reuters AdvicePoint in past years.
Mr. Hou is an Advisory Board member of the UCLA Anderson School of Management Fink Center for Finance. He also serves on the Board for the South Central Scholars Fund, a charitable foundation providing funding and support for inner city college-bound youth.
Mr. Hou holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics/Business from UCLA (1988) and an MBA from The UCLA Anderson School of Management (1992).
