Background

  • The Business and Information Technology (BIT) project was launched at UCLA in 2003 as a way to bring together academics and researchers interested in the major changes happening in companies and sectors due to the implementation of new online technologies. The initial model was based on comparing the different trajectories and approaches taken by companies in various countries, with one lead research partner in each country. The earliest partners involved in the BIT network were SDA Bocconi (Milano, Italy) and IITB (Mumbai, India).  The BIT network presently includes partners in 14 countries.
  • BIT studies conducted by partner institutions have been published in five books (four published by World Scientific Publishing) and as papers and articles in journals. Conferences have been held around the world at partner locations over the years with the goal of sharing research and findings as well as networking with regional academic institutions and local industry.
  • The BIT global research network is now being expanded to a more inclusive model with no limits on participants and partners.
