Entrepreneurship and Venture Initiation (295A)

This course deals with important aspects of starting, developing, and growing a new enterprise, or acquiring and building an existing business into one of reasonable size. We start by defining and providing perspective on entrepreneurship. We then move to a discussion of the recognition, evaluation, and exploitation of opportunity. Focus then shifts to the financial (including investor return and capital structure concerns), legal and tax issues confronting entrepreneurs as they assemble, acquire, and manage resources. We conclude with an introduction to exit considerations and the challenge of managing growth.
