298D - Strategy Management in Entertainment Industries

Faculty: Alderton, Derek

This course considers the manner in which the fundamental economic characteristics underlying most entertainment industries, such as intrinsic uncertainty and substantial upfront fixed costs, engender unusual managerial challenges. One major theme of the course will revolve around reviewing the risk-sharing techniques, organizational structures and corporate relationships to understand how these mechanisms cope with these challenges, as well as to identify who wins and who loses. Another major theme concerns how to use data to help make decisions.
