278A - Urban Real Estate Financing and Investment

The objectives of this course are to: (1) provide the student with an understanding of the concepts, principles and terminology of real estate finance and investment. And, (2) develop the ability to apply these principles to the problems encountered when investing in real estate. This course is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice in real estate finance and investment.  It is made up of an eclectic set of topics, topics where finance and economics provide insights into the working of real estate markets and the desirability of real estate investments. Particular emphasis will be placed upon the securitization of equity investments in real estate.
