231D - Take Overs, Restructuring, Governance

The course examines takeovers and other restructuring activities by firms. Its goal is to enable you to understand, analyze, and plan takeovers and other restructuring activities. We will develop a theoretical framework, valuation methods, learn about the mechanics of transactions, and acquire some knowledge about empirical regularities such as stock market reactions to particular restructuring activities. An important objective is to develop the maturity to make good judgments as to which transactions will increase value and which not.
