228 - Financial Statement Analysis

Faculty: Hughes, J.

This course focuses principally on equity valuation from financial accounting data and the complications posed by distortions of that data. Emphasis is given to the construction of pro-forma financial statements and valuation based on discounted cash flow and residual income approaches. Complications posed by capital structure, derivatives, inter-corporate investments, and accounting restatements are considered. The remainder of the course offers perspectives on signaling, insider trading, and voluntary disclosure.
