Amit Bhatia

Amit Bhatia is a full time MBA student focusing on Finance & Accounting. He holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Following graduation, Amit worked as a technology consultant for NCS, a leading IT consulting firm in Singapore. Realizing his interest in finance, he moved to Citigroup, where he was selected as one of the 6 candidates for the prestigious Management Associate program. For two years prior to attending Anderson, Amit managed a $2.5 Billion Fixed Income Portfolio for Citigroup in Singapore. At Anderson he is a student career counselor, a Teaching Assistant for Managerial Economics, Vice President of Academics for his section, and a member of the Investment Finance Club. His summer internship is at Morgan Stanley in Los Angeles with the Mergers & Acquisitions team.

Yimin Guo

Yimin is a 2008 MBA student at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. She is currently a design engineer at Nokia Mobile Phones. She has an engineering background and has been working in the telecommunication industry since she got her Masters Degree in Computer Science from SUNY Buffalo. After graduation, Yimin hopes to have a career which allows her to combine her MBA experiences with her quantitative background. In her spare time she enjoys reading, tennis, and the market. 


Brendan Hanley

Brendan is a Fully Employed MBA student in the UCLA Anderson School of Management class of 2009 with a focus on Finance. Brendan graduated from UCLA in 2001 with a B.A., Political Science and Business Minor. Upon graduation, he began his career at UCLA Communications Technology Services in Los Angeles, CA where he was quickly promoted to manage a unit responsible for ensuring the accuracy of intra-Campus recharges in excess of $29 MM annually. In his current capacity, as Senior Financial Analyst, Brendan is responsible for the development of the organization's cost-accounting based annual operating budget, financial reporting and analytics. He was selected as a participant in the 2003-04 UCLA Professional Development Program - a one-year management leadership program for UCLA staff. The program included a nine-month capstone project, in which Brendan provided the UCLA School of Public Affairs with a set of recommendations on implementing cost-effective best practices in alumni career services. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, investing, and pool-time with his one-year old daughter and wife. 


Stephen Hughes

Steve is a full-time, class of 2008, MBA student at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Prior to Anderson, Steve was a lieutenant in the US Navy during which time he served on the submarine, USS Pennsylvania. Steve graduated in 2001 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor's degree in Physics and plans to leverage this background to apply a quantitative framework to a career in investment management. Steve enjoys the outdoors, a variety of sports, and spending time with family and friends. 


Jonathan Kopitzke

Jonathan Kopitzke is a 2009 MBA candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management where he is concentrating on Finance. Currently Jonathan is a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch & Co. In this capacity, he analyzes, recommends, and trades investments and strategies in equities, hedge funds, and private equity for client portfolios. Previously he was a performance analyst with City National Asset Management where he managed the investment performance measurement system, portfolio analytics, and assisted portfolio managers with equity research. Jonathan holds a bachelors degree in Economics from the California State University at San Bernardino, where he graduated with honors, and completed an extension certificate program in Finance from the University of California at Los Angeles. 


Catherine Ku

Catherine is a FEMBA 2008 MBA student at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. She graduated with honors in 2002 with a BS in Management Science and a minor in Communications from UC San Diego. Catherine is currently a Regional Investment Manager at Wells Fargo Bank's Trust & Investment Center in Long Beach, California. Catherine has worked with the Bank for the last five years in similar capacities and currently leads a team of eight investment managers and investment management specialists. Catherine and her team manage a total of close to $3 Billion in assets in high net worth individual/charitable trusts, investment management accounts and IRAs.  

Carl Ludwigson

Carl is a 2008 MBA candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and will be working at Pacific Alternative Asset Management for the summer of 2007. He has three and a half years of international experience in Equity Capital Markets. Carl began his career at Merrill Lynch and most recently worked for Credit Suisse with a focus on emerging markets. He graduated from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 2001.

Joseph Pawson

Joseph Pawson is a full-time MBA student at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He currently is a member of the Investment Finance Club and was selected as a Fellow of the Anderson Student Asset Management Fund, a student-run investment fund with over $600,000 of assets under management. Joseph currently serves as the fund's Treasurer.
Prior to business school, Joseph was an Assistant Vice President in the Credit Risk Management Group at The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, a Japanese bank offering a range of international and domestic services related to retail banking, commercial banking, global corporate banking, investment banking and asset management. Working for five years in NY, Joseph developed risk strategy for a $110 billion credit portfolio and monitored all derivatives and foreign exchange trading activity in the Americas. Before BTM, Joseph spent a year at Deutsche Bank researching corporate client information and managing related IT systems. Joseph graduated from Stanford University in 1999 with a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Organizational Behavior.
During the summer of 2007, Joseph will be a Summer Associate at UBS in New York and Stamford, CT, where he will be rotated on various equity trading desks, including cash trading, institutional equity derivatives trading and research sales.

Mark Perry

Mark Perry is an MBA candidate in UCLA Anderson's FEMBA program, class of 2008. He is currently a Systems Engineer at The Boeing Company where he works closely with customers to design and implement next-generation communication satellite systems. In this capacity his roles have varied from Analyst to Program Manager. Mark returned to graduate school to study finance and hopes to transition into a career in Investment Management. In addition to being an active member of ASAM, Mark is also a member of the Investment Finance Club and the Entrepreneur Association. He graduated with honors from UCLA with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and has an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Mark spent the summer of 2007 as a Summer Associate at Centinela Capital Partners, a private equity fund-of-funds. 

Prema Sampath

Prema is a full-time 2008 MBA student at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Before coming to Anderson, Prema worked as a design and verification engineer on the Pentium III line of products at Intel, Santa Clara, CA. During her time at Intel, she was a recipient of divisional excellence award for her work on the Tualatin project. She also spent over five years at Sun Microsystems located in Sunnyvale, CA as a senior design and validation engineer working on the UltraSPARC line of servers. Prema graduated in 1998 with an MSEE in Computer Engineering from Purdue University and also holds a MS degree in Management Science in Engineering from Stanford University. She will spend the summer of 2007 as an intern at Bain and Company based out of their Los Angeles Office. 

Reece Schort

Reece is a 2008 MBA student at the UCLA Anderson School of Management focusing on finance. His work experience includes three years in corporate banking covering the Power & Utility industries at Union Bank of California. He served in various capacities ranging from business origination to credit analyst to underwriter. Reece graduated in 2003 with a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. In the summer of 2007 Reece will be interning at Susquehanna International Group where he will work on the floor of the CBOE and learn about derivatives and trading. After graduation, Reece hopes to begin a career in investment management that allows him to utilize the skills he is learning in ASAM and UCLA Anderson. 

Ashish Shrestha

Ashish Shrestha is currently an institutional investment consultant with Mercer Investment Consulting providing tax-qualified clients with investment advice that enables them to fulfill their fiduciary obligations and achieve their investment objectives. His areas of expertise include asset modeling, portfolio structuring, risk budgeting, investment manager evaluation, portfolio performance and risk monitoring, and investment policy development. Ashish manages all phases of a consulting relationship including client prospecting, business development, and client service. His clients are in both the public and private sectors and include a number of Fortune 500 companies. Ashish is currently responsible for 10 client relationships, representing over $4 billion in client assets and a retainer book of business worth in excess of $400,000 per year. Ashish holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics and international relations from Claremont McKenna College. He is currently pursuing his Master's in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Erik Wright

Erik is a full time 2008 MBA candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, focusing on finance and investment management. Prior to attending business school, Erik worked as an associate for TCW/Crescent Mezzanine, where he analyzed and structured investments in privately held and publicly traded debt and equity securities. Erik conducted due diligence and provided financial analysis on transactions that represented over $300 million in fund investments. Prior to working for TCW/Crescent, Erik worked as an investment banking analyst at Deutsche Bank in the leveraged finance and financial sponsors group where he performed extensive financial modeling and valuation analysis on LBO, merger and acquisition, and corporate finance transactions. Erik graduated from Dartmouth College in 2001 with a B.A. in Economics and a Minor in German. During the summer of 2007, Erik will be working for Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong.

Stefan Wrobel

Stefan is a Fully Employed MBA student in the UCLA Anderson class of 2009. He also holds a B.S. Information & Computer Science, Cum Laude, from the University of California, Irvine. He is currently Technology Manager at Dorchester Capital Advisors, a Los Angeles fund of hedge funds, where he is responsible for designing and managing the implementation of Dorchester's investment management systems. Prior to working at Dorchester, he was a Senior Business Systems Analyst at LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO and a Programmer Analyst at Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company, an Irvine, CA fund of hedge funds. Outside of work and school, Stefan enjoys biking, surfing, ultimate frisbee, skiing and traveling.
