Ynon Kreiz will serve as the commencement speaker for this year's EMBA graduation on Saturday, July 30th 2011 at 3:00 pm.
Between 2008 and June 2011, Kreiz was the Chairman and CEO of Endemol, the world's largest independent television and digital production company. Endemol is a pioneer in the global unscripted format business and is best known, in the United States and elsewhere, for hits such as "Big Brother" and "Deal or No Deal" and comprises a group of more than 80 companies in 31 countries. Kreiz began his ground-breaking entertainment career while at UCLA Anderson, where he met American-Israeli media mogul Haim Saban, who hired Ynon in 1996 to launch Fox Kids Europe as part of a joint venture with Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. Within three years Kreiz had hired nearly 400 people in 17 countries and built a kid-vid juggernaut. By 1999, Fox Kids Europe was floated in the Amsterdam stock exchange and eventually sold to Disney in 2001.
Prior to joining Endemol, Mr. Kreiz worked as an investor in the media industry. Between 2005 and 2007, he was a General Partner at Balderton Capital (formerly Benchmark Capital Europe), a leading venture capital firm, where he served on the boards of Setanta Sports and Codemasters among others. Prior to that, Mr. Kreiz was Chairman and CEO of Fox Kids Europe N.V. (FKE), which he co-founded with Haim Saban. Under his management, Fox Kids became one of the fastest growing pay-TV channels in Europe and the Middle East, broadcasting in 56 countries in 17 languages. FKE was listed on the Euronext Stock Exchange in Amsterdam prior to the sale of its majority stake to the Walt Disney Company.
Mr. Kreiz was born and raised in Israel and earned a BA in Economics and Management from Tel Aviv University. UCLA Anderson is privileged to welcome Mr. Kreiz back to campus to join in celebrating this wonderful milestone with current EMBA graduates.
