Bleacher Report announced the appointment of Brian Grey ('97) as Chief Executive Officer. Grey, a veteran of the digital sports media space, will begin his duties in July and be based out of the company's San Francisco offices.
Bleacher Report is consistently ranked as one of the top 15 digital sports properties according to comScore, and garners approximately eight million unique visitors each month, according to Quantcast.
Grey most recently served as an Executive-in-Residence at Polaris Venture Partners where he evaluated and advised various digital and technology businesses. For three years Grey was SVP & GM of FOX Sports Interactive, where he oversaw the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of FOX Sports digital businesses, which included FOXSports.com, FOX Sports Mobile, Scout Media, and Whatifsports.com. While at FOX, Grey directed the expansion of FSI's original video production and programming in concert with the FOX Sports broadcast and FOX Sports Net cable television groups. Prior to FOX Sports, Grey was GM of Yahoo! Sports, a role in which he spearheaded the site's push into original editorial programming and growth into the Web's clear-cut No. 1 fantasy sports product. Grey also served in a variety of executive roles at Netscape, AOL, and Shutterfly.
"Brian's experience and reputation within the online sports industry makes him the perfect executive to lead Bleacher Report into its next phase of growth," said Dave Nemetz, Bleacher Report co-Founder and VP of Business Development. "We look forward to working closely with him and the rest of our team as we pursue opportunities that lie ahead of our business."
"This is an exciting time to be joining Bleacher Report and I look forward to building from the solid foundation that the Bleacher Report team has created to date," said Grey. "Bleacher Report is well positioned to continue its growth as one of the engines helping shape the evolution of digital media content development, distribution, and monetization within a consumer media environment that craves content breadth and depth, social media community experiences, and access to digital media across multiple outlets and devices."
