Ellen R. DeSanctis (’87) Is the New Executive Vice President of Strategy & Development for Rosetta Resources, Inc.

Rosetta Resources Inc., an independent oil and gas company engaged in acquisition, exploration, development and production of oil and gas properties in North America,  has announced that Ellen R. DeSanctis is their new executive vice president of strategy and development. The appointment became effective on September 29, 2008. DeSanctis’ responsibilities will include strategic planning, business development and Rosetta’s corporate giving programs. Prior to joining Rosetta, DeSanctis served as an independent consultant advising companies in the areas of strategic planning, investor relations and leadership development. She served prior as vice-president, corporate communications for Burilngton Resources.

Cristina A. Waters (’08) Named President of Cell Therapeutics Europe

Cristina A. Waters (’08), a recent graduate of UCLA Anderson’s EMBA program, has been named president of Cell Therapeutics Europe. Based in Bresso, Italy, CTI Europe currently conducts the research and development of Cell Therapeutics, Inc.’s cancer drug pipeline. Waters, who also holds a Ph.D. in genetics, was previously president and COO of Tyr Pharma and formerly the director of scientific development at Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation. In her new role, Waters will accelerate the launch of Ap(3)ana, an organization that will seek to integrate new technologies in the areas of informatics, genetics, preclinical and clinical development to advance medical treatment and predictive medicine.

Tamalpais Bank Names Lawrence Cretan (’83) EVP / Chief Credit Officer

Lawrence Cretan (’83) is the new executive vice president / chief credit officer of Tamalpais Bank. Cretan will have primary responsibility of all aspects of lending activities including asset quality, underwriting, funding and loan servicing. Cretan joins Tamalpais Bank, from Greater Bay Bank, N.A., where he was director of credit administration. Previously, he worked for Wells Fargo Bank in various senior level loan and credit positions throughout Northern California.

Richard L. Smith (Ph.D. ’79) Joins Faculty at UC Riverside’s Gary Anderson School of Management

Richard L. Smith (Ph.D. ’79) has joined the faculty at UC Riverside’s Gary Anderson School of Management as the Philip L. Boyd Chair and Professor of Finance and Management Science and chairman of the Department of Finance and Management Science at UCR. He was most recently the Ralph W. Leatherby Chair of Entrepreneurship and Private Equity at Chapman University. Smith is author of “Entrepreneurial Finance” (Wiley, 2004, 2ed.) and more than 35 journal articles and other research papers. His research has focused on initial public offerings and venture capital.

Grebstad Hicks Communications (GHC) Names Patrick Keenan (’08) Managing Director

Patrick Keenan (’08), who holds a double MBA from UCLA Anderson and the National University of Singapore, has been named managing director for Grebstad Hicks Communications, Asia’s leading public relations and communications agency specializing in travel, hospitality and luxury lifestyle. Keenan will head the company’s Singapore office. Keenan has extensive public relations and public affairs experience, having worked with global public relations agencies in several practice areas including branding, consumer marketing, corporate communications, product campaigns, CSR/stakeholder relations and crisis management.
