Mars Science Laboratory Flight Director, Keith Comeaux ('08) was one of a handful of UCLA Anderson alumni at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory cheering on Sunday night, August 5, 2012 as the voice of mission control, Allen Chen ('07)  announced: "Touchdown confirmed: we're safe on Mars." Several minutes prior to touchdown,  Kelly Clarke ('02) announced that data was being received from an orbiting satellite around Mars named Odyssey.
