TYPHOON VICENTE DOESN'T STOP PROFESSOR COCKRUM'S HONG KONG VISIT
On the morning of July 23, with Typhoon Vicente heading straight toward Hong Kong, it looked as though the Chapter event, featuring Professor Bill Cockrum would need to be cancelled. But Professor Cockrum disagreed. "Typhoons have never stopped me in the past", he stated, and so the event was 'relocated' to the Professor's hotel. He proceeded to present " Entrepreneurship and Finance in the US and Asia" followed by an in-depth discussion about ethics, entrepreneurship, and financing. Five brave alumni gathered on the room's sofa and floor. At times the group had to raise their voices to get through the storm that was raging on the other side of the window. Later, the group adjourned to the hotel's restaurant. Together, the alumni and Professor Cockrum weathered the first typhoon to hit Hong Kong in 13 years. As chapter President , Kristian Odebjer ('04) stated: "Getting back home was a long and messy affair, but more than worth the effort given what an excellent time we had had."
