About Alegre Ramos '01

Alegre Ramos '01Alegre Ramos '01 is an award-winning speaker who lives to inspire people to “be a spark in the world.” She has spoken in front of audiences as large as fifteen-hundred, and to constituents ranging from “at-risk” high school students to major donors at universities on topics including: overcoming adversity, the benefits of small business entrepreneurship and sustainability as a mindset. She also individually coaches a select number of speakers and business professionals in public speaking. Alegre’s first business, Green and Greener (G&G), an eco-consulting and design business, was founded in 2004. In 2006 she added a brick and mortar retail component that was a “one-stop, eco shop”. G&G was more than a store; it flourished for many years as a community resource with speakers, events and workshops. However, in 2013—recognizing the dire future of small retail—Alegre closed G&G to focus on public speaking, coaching and workshops. She rebranded her business as Ember Living.

That same year, Alegre was tapped by Howcast, a top 10 YouTube channel, to be their Green Living Expert for a series of 50 “Basics of Green Living” series, which launched in November 2013 and received over a quarter-of-a-million views its first month.

She has been featured in/on numerous media including the LA Times, The Huffington Post, CBS and the Discovery Channel, to name a few and and has presented at events for numerous universities, the City of Los Angeles, LA Green Festival and Worldfest.

A lifelong cook, she has developed a methodology of healthy, sustainable cooking called “Intuitive Cooking: Unleash Your Creativity by Learning to Cook Without Recipes,” which she teaches as hands-on workshops and will soon become a book.

Before embarking on her own entrepreneurial ventures, she managed the marketing of numerous national public radio programs, including the complete Marketplace franchise.
