GLBA Train Trip – ITINERARY CHANGE TO SANTA BARBARA – Please respond asap

We are very excited to have you with us for this year’s GLBA Train Trip!

However, I am sending this note today to let you know that due to Amtrak issues on that particular train line on November 15, we are unable to reach San Diego by train.  The track south of Oceanside will be closed on that day – and we would not be able to proceed further south to San Diego.

But instead of cancelling this year’s trip, there is good news -  Our dear friends and hosts Burt Hermey and Al Bishop have suggested a different destination for us on the same day – which follows a similar schedule.  The GLBA Train Trip has now been re-routed to go to SANTA BARBARA for the day.

The schedule will change slightly – with a slightly later departure time from Los Angeles – but returning to LA at approximately the same time.  Guests will still enjoy 4 hours of fun in Santa Barbara – and brunch and snacks/drinks will still be served in the train car.

Train 769         Departs Los Angeles (Union Station) at 12:25 PM
                      Arrives Santa Barbara at 3:00PM
Train 796         Departs Santa Barbara 6:59 PM
                      Arrives Los Angeles 9:45PM
(As our itinerary is now northbound from Los Angeles, we are working on some special arrangements for those who were expected to board the train in ORANGE COUNTY.  While we still expect you to board at your desired locations in Orange County, please be assured that you will be getting an additional communication from me to confirm these arrangements as soon as possible.)
While this is an unexpected change of plans, we are very excited (and grateful) to have this option – and to be able to take our annual trip to a different destination.  As many of you know, there are many wonderful sights and activities in Santa Barbara – and we believe it would be a very special day for all!

We hope all of you will still consider joining us for the day.  But we do understand if, for some reason, this change in destination would cause you to change your mind about your attendance this year.  (And due to these special circumstances, we will make an exception and grant refunds to those who request them.)

If you are receiving this email, you already had been confirmed for passage on the train to San Diego.  But PLEASE RESPOND back to this email by Monday, November 3 - and either confirm that:

                     1) You will still be joining us on the trip to Santa Barbara, or

                     2) You are in need of cancelling your reservation (and request a refund)

On behalf of the GLBA, I extend our apologies for these unforeseen circumstances and the inconvenience they may cause.   But we truly hope that you will be able to continue with your reservation for this new itinerary – and that we may enjoy your company for this wonderful event!

If you have any questions or concerns at all, please do not hesitate to let me know.
All the best,
Alan Guño
