If my background is engineering, science, or technical background, what are career options after business school? How can I advance in my career? Kathryn Ullrich, Director of Alumni Career Services at UCLA Anderson shares research she did on career paths to typical MBA career targets such as CEO, VP Marketing, VP Product Management, VP Business Development as presented in her book, Getting to the Top: Strategies for Career Success. She also presents new primary research on additional functions and careers of MBAs with technical backgrounds. Kathryn also shares implications and career strategies for those from technical backgrounds in advancing to leadership roles.
 
 
About Kathryn Ullrich
Kathryn Ullrich leads Alumni Career Services at UCLA Anderson School of Management, providing programs, coaching, and resources for alumni to manage professional success. She is author of the award-winning book, Getting to the Top: Strategies for Career Success. Kathy has been an executive recruiter for 15 years with Russell Reynolds Associates and her own firm after careers in software product marketing with Siebel Systems (now Oracle,) strategy consulting with Accenture, and engineering leadership roles at GTE (now Verizon). Kathy has an EMBA with top Carter Award honors from UCLA Anderson and a BS in Electrical Engineering, cum laude, from University of Michigan.
