Mr. Gerhart is an experienced Founder/CEO with more than 25-years experience starting and building companies based on promising technologies. He was most recently the president & CEO of Elevation Pharmaceuticals, a San Diego-based biotech he founded in 2008 to develop new aerosol therapies for underserved patient populations with respiratory diseases. At Elevation, Mr. Gerhart led the development of a drug candidate for COPD through Phase 2 studies and the sale of the Company in Sept 2012 to a subsidiary of Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma (Sunovion) for up to $430m. Prior to Elevation, Mr. Gerhart was the President and CEO of Mpex Pharmaceuticals from 2002 to 2007, a company he founded to discover and develop new antibacterials for the treatment of serious infections, which was acquired by Aptalis in 2011. Prior to Mpex, he was a founder and/or CEO of several other companies, including Medlyte Therapeutics (now publicly-held Lpath Therapeutics), Vaxiion Therapeutics (RNAi delivery), and Suddenly Smart, Inc. (eLearning software). Mr. Gerhart is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute and a member of the World President’s Organization. He graduated from Baylor University with a BBA degree and from Harvard University with an MBA degree.
Mr. Dobak, MD has served as Founder and CEO of several venture-backed life science companies in San Diego. Dr. Dobak is the President of the JAKK Group, a life sciences technology accelerator, which has created several companies, including Lithera, INNERCOOL Therapies, and CryoGen/CryoCor. These companies have developed and marketed therapeutics, ranging from endovascular hypothermia to treat cardiac arrest to catheter-based treatments for cardiac arrhythmias. They have been financed by top tier investment firms and have achieved exits through acquisition and an IPO. Dr. Dobak and these companies are the recipients of several awards for entrepreneurship and innovation, including UCSD Connect’s Most Innovative New Product and MIT’s TR 100. Dr. Dobak received a Bachelor’s Degree from UCLA and a Medical Doctorate from UCSD.
Mr. Ramirez started in 2000 www.mediotiempo.com with 2 friends in Mexico City. After attending Kellogg, Mr. Ramirez decided to go back to his small business. Eventually,www.mediotiempo.com become Mexico's largest sports website and was sold in 2008 to Time Warner. Currently Mr. Ramirez is CEO of www.soccerly.com, a Soccer website focused on the US English Speaking general market.
